The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

The term "England" is sometimes erroneously used by both natives of England (the English) and those outside our country to refer to the United Kingdom. Natives of the other constituent nations of the U.K. find such usage offensive, so it is best avoided! Although there is no adjective for the "United Kingdom" the term "British" is acceptable, although has to be used with care and sensitivity in Northern Ireland, where one section of the community would be happy being so-described, whereas the other would most definitely regard themselves as "Irish".
England, Scotland and Wales together with the province of Northern Ireland, form the country officially known as "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" or simply the United Kingdom.

The kingdoms that formed the British nation, took for their emblems the crosses of three Christian Saints, George for England, Andrew for Scotland and Patrick for Ireland.
A smaller version of "the Union flag" flown at the jackstaff was named the "Union Jack", this is really a term restricted to a flag used aboard ship.

The National Anthem of the United Kingdom is God Save the Queen

Ireland became self-governing in 1922 with the establishment of the Irish Free State.
Their flag symbolizes Peace (White) between the Catholics (Green) and the Protestants (Orange).

The United States of America and the United Kingdom share the same colors in their flags. England and the United States of America share a Rose as their national emblem.
The Pomp and Circumstance March played in the USA is the tune used for the UK song Land of Hope and Glory.

Pre-Roman England
I knew England had been around awhile but it seems it has had a longer and more complex history than I was taught in school.  Thanks to modern technology together with ongoing archaeological and historical research. Evidence has been found of “Cavemen” then it seems the Ice age made it uninhabitable, then the Great Flood that followed turned it into an island.
